Local forums give Sunshine Coast businesses the chance to shape their future workforce

Sunshine Coast Regional Jobs Committee Chairman, and CEO of Turbine, Andy Eves-Brown said these forums are the ideal opportunity to bring the region’s stakeholders together and uncover exactly what industry needs to support this growth.
“Since bringing the Committee together in March we have been hearing that industry-to-school connections, business support and future proofing our workforce to support our growth trajectory, are the major challenges facing the Sunshine Coast.
That’s why it is critical for us to conduct these forums across the region to test if that is true by hearing directly from our local businesses so we get our Action Plan right and make meaningful impact for the next 12 months and beyond” he said.
“Now is the perfect time and opportunity to contribute into the workforce and business growth of the future on the Sunshine Coast, I’d encourage all businesses to join us and get along to a forum”.
Member for Caloundra Jason Hunt welcomed the series of forums to help secure a stronger, resilient, and adaptable workforce and deliver what matters for the Sunshine Coast.
“Under Labor, our region is a job creation powerhouse with growth of 12.5% to 2025-26, so we need solid pathways and partnerships to get local people into good jobs and help our regional economy thrive,” Mr Hunt said.
“This growth is being driven by our Big Build with more new jobs in Health Care and Social Assistance, Construction, Retail Trade, Accommodation and Food Services, and Education and Training.
“We’ll train them up with our new Queensland Skills Strategy that will deliver one million subsidised training places for Queenslanders, including 70,000 Free TAFE places.
“We’ll continue to back our locals with real cost of living relief and a chance at a better life with Free TAFE, Free Apprenticeships, Free Tools for First Years, Skilling Queenslanders for Work and Back to Work.
“I’m proud to back the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce – which has had a presence in the region for more than 75 years – with the Sunshine Coast Regional Jobs Committee powering us as a collaborative and well-connected local body.”
